About the Museum School

Located in Boston's Fenway cultural district, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA), is a unique institution, dedicated to educating artists and focused on fostering creative investigation, risk-taking, and individual vision. We do this by emphasizing studio practice and by offering students an unusual amount of freedom in their coursework.

We offer renowned undergraduate and graduate programs in addition to all-studio programs leading to the Diploma, the Fifth Year Certificate, and the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate. We also offer art classes and workshops for adults and teenagers through our continuing education program.

Our programs are enhanced by our close relationships with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, one of the most comprehensive art museums in the world (and our next door neighbor!), and with Tufts and Northeastern universities.

We welcome visitors to our campus and our many exhibitions.  Questions? Please contact us.
