Transfer Students

The SMFA welcomes transfer students to our bachelor's
degree and Diploma programs. In your application, we’re looking for a strong portfolio, as
well as other indicators that you’re a good match for the School. These include
your previous schooling and the quality and content of the essays that are part
of your application. Here’s how to
apply: - Check our
deadlines. If you submit
your application after the priority deadline for your program, your application
will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that the five-year
Combined-Degree Program does not offer rolling admission.
- Submit the
Application for Admission
with the $65
application fee and one essay (or a personal statement). You can download the application (PDF) or request a paper application.
- Arrange for your final official high school transcript or General
Equivalency Diploma (GED) to be sent to the Admissions
Office.
- Arrange for
your official college transcript(s)
to be sent
to the Admissions Office. - Submit a
portfolio for review.
- SAT, ACT, and/or AP
scores are optional for transfer students. Have them sent
directly to the Admissions Office from the College Board. Our
SAT code is 3794; our ACT code is 3794. (Not necessary for Diploma applicants.)- Submit two
letters of recommendation

describing
why you want to become an art teacher (BFA in Art Education
only).- Combined-Degree
applicants only: Submit a separate
application to Tufts
