About:
This colloquium brings together a panel of artists at different stages in their careers to examine how Feminist theory and aesthetics have influenced their studio practice. While ideas from social, cultural, and political movements take time to trickle down into the curriculum of a fine arts education, it is also true that art school itself is a generative force of these very trends. What kind of future does contemporary Feminist art imagine?
Moderated by Meghan Hughes, Professor in the Department of Visual and Critical Studies, SMFA and Tufts University. Panelists include Ambreen Butt, Xavier Cha, Leeza Meksin, Catherine Lord, Mary Ellen Strom, and Ian Jeffrey. Funding has been provided by the Office oft he Dean of Undergraduate Students, SMFA, Boston; the Department of Graduate Studies, Tufts University and SMFA, Boston; the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences, Tufts University; The Toupin Fund, Tufts University; Department of Visual and Critical Studies, Tufts University and SMFA.
