Tuition and Fees The tuition for each course is
listed with the
course description. For credit and non-credit studio art courses, one-week intensives, and the high school Portfolio Lab, a nonrefundable general fee of $50 is payable once per semester. For some courses, the instructor may suggest the purchase
of additional
supplies. Continuing Education courses for Tufts credit is available to students enrolled at Tufts University. Tufts students may register for these courses through the Tufts student information system (SIS) online. Tuition and fees are assessed and collected by Tufts University.

Fall Early Bird Registration Individuals who register on or before Friday, August 8, 2008, at 5 pm will receive a $25 discount off the cost of all studio art courses, both credit and non-credit sections. This offer may be combined with other discounts. This offer does not apply to our Spring Break One-Week Intensives or Pre-College Summer Studio. Museum School Alumni
Diploma and degree graduates
receive a 25% tuition discount on 2- and 4-credit courses, paying $671.25 per each 2-credit course and $1,342.50 per each 4-credit course. If you are a
graduate, please check the appropriate box on the registration
form and
indicate the year you graduated.
Medici Society Members, MFA
members, and
Senior Citizens Members of the
Museum School’s
Medici Society, MFA members, and senior citizens (62
or older)
are eligible for a $50 discount on 2-credit courses and a $75 discount on 4-credit classes. Please check the appropriate box on the
registration
form. MFA members must include
their membership card number.
New Students
Continuing Education students registering for the first time receive $25 off 2-credit courses and $50 off 4-credit courses. High School Students Junior and senior high school students are eligible for a 25% tuition discount on two- and four-credit courses. Applications must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from an art teacher or guidance counselor. Note: this discount does not apply to high school workshops or the Portfolio Lab.
Top Refunds and
Withdrawals
Tuition refunds are made only when a Continuing Education Course Drop Form is received by the Office of the Registrar. The date that such notice
is received will be the effective date of withdrawal. Fall Semester: A
100% refund of tuition is
given when written notice of
withdrawal is received by the Office
of the Registrar PRIOR to
the start
of: - The third class meeting for two- and four-credit courses.
- The second class meeting for courses taken as non-credit.
- The first class meeting for workshops and intensives.
After the deadlines, no refund will be given. The general fee is not
refundable. If you fax a withdrawal notice, please call
the Registrar's Office at 617-369-3621 to confirm its receipt.
Course Cancellations and Changes
The
School reserves
the right to cancel any course that does not
have the minimum
enrollment. A full refund of tuition and fees will be
made.
The School also
reserves the right to make changes in course
scheduling, faculty, and course
content.
Credit, Grades,
and Hours
of
Instruction
Credit is awarded on the basis of two credits for every 45 contact hours of instruction.
Grading
is on a pass/fail basis.
If you require a letter grade in order to transfer credit to another institution, or for professional development purposes, please indicate this wish by checking the appropriate place on the application, or by filling out a request for letter grade form before the 3rd class period. Credit and grades cannot be received for courses taken as non-credit, or for workshops. Semester Calendar

Transcript Request Transcript Requests may be directed to the School's Registrar. Professional Development Points for K–12 Teachers Students who successfully complete courses offered at the Museum School are eligible to receive Professional Development Points (PDPs), required by the State of Massachusetts for the re-certification of Massachusetts educators. For more information about obtaining PDPs, please contact the Continuing Education Office.
Access to Facilities During the school year, the
Museum School is open to Continuing Education students from 6 pm–12 am, Monday through Friday, and 8 am–12 am, Saturday and Sunday. Students have access to the space
used by their course(s) during these hours if the space is not being used by
another course. The photography darkroom is open from 6–11:30
pm, Monday through Thursday,
6–9:30
pm on Friday, 10 am–6
pm on Saturday, and
12–5
pm on Sunday. Hours in areas that
require monitors may differ and will be posted. ID
Cards ID
photos will be taken at the Continuing
Education
Office on the first day of each class. A valid SMFA ID is required for access to
all Museum
School
facilities. If you have an ID from a previous semester, it can be validated with
the current semester sticker. Your ID entitles you to free admission to the
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, discounts at the Museum Shop and parking
facilities, as well as discounts at some art supply stores, other museums, and
theatres.
Health and
Safety It
is
the responsibility of all students, when they are on School
property,
to
adhere to the School’s verbal or written health and safety
instructions and
guidelines.

Taking Day School Courses The Museum School offers a wide and varied curriculum. Continuing Education students may take classes offered during the day by the full-time programs of the Museum School, if space is available after matriculated students have enrolled, and if the instructor permits. Full-time program courses meet for one or more three hour periods per week (9 am–12 pm or 2–5 pm). CE students may take a maximum of three periods per week (six credits) at the part-time matriculated student tuition rate of $2,390 per two credits. Alternatively, Continuing Education students may register (according to the restrictions above) on an audit basis, with no credit awarded, at the Continuing Education tuition rate of $895 for a two-credit class or $1,790 for a four-credit class. Continuing Education students enrolled in weekday courses follow the “Access to Facilities” policy outlined above.
