How to Apply
The Museum School’s Pre-College Summer Studio is a competitive pre-college program for juniors and seniors in high school (or students 16 to 18 years of age). We strongly encourage early application because of the program’s limited space. Students requesting housing are encouraged to submit applications before April 2, 2008. Preference is given to applications received prior to this date.

All applicants must submit the following:

  • Application form and nonrefundable $50 application fee.
  • One letter of recommendation from an art teacher or guidance counselor. Applicants from outside the United States need to have a letter of recommendation in English. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the Continuing Education Office.
  • A typewritten essay (2–3 pages) on one of the following topics:
    1) Why do you want to attend the Museum School’s Pre-College Summer Studio program? Tell us what inspires you to make art.
    OR
    2) Describe one of your art works. Why did you create it; what does it mean to you?
  • A minimum of eight images  of your artwork, such as slides, photographs, or digital images. Acceptable digital formats include DVDs, CD-ROMs, and VHS (NTSC format only). Please label all materials with your name and title of work. Images should represent work done within the last year. Please do not send original works. Images will not be returned unless a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included.

International applicants must also submit additional information. Click here to learn more if you are an international applicant.

Applicants will be admitted on the basis of their recommendation, essay, and artwork.

At that time we will mail you a confirmation notice that must be returned with your deposit or  the full tuition. Later, you will receive additional program information and important forms that must be completed and returned to us.

If the program is full and we cannot confirm your registration, we will notify you by telephone and place you on a waiting list. You will be notified if a space becomes available. This applies to housing as well. You will not be charged the deposit fee unless you are offered a space and agree to take it. Please note that we encourage early registration.
