This intensive is designed to give you the basic tools to create screenprints through hand-drawn and photographic stencils, as well as to encourage experimentation with the screenprint process. Using hand-cut stencils to color separations, you will become familiar with color mixing, layering, and color interaction while building up images. We will explore specific approaches to photographically- and digitally-derived stencils by using computer applications to filter and manipulate images. We also will experiment with various approaches to discover new formats for translating ideas through screenprinting. At the end of the week, you will have begun to build a portfolio while learning an exciting and versatile process.
