Alumni Traveling Scholarships are awarded annually, based on a juried competition. SMFA and SMFA/Tufts alumni who graduated on or before May 2003 from one of the following programs are eligible to apply: Diploma, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, Fifth Year Certificate, Bachelor of Fine Arts, BFA in Art Education, Combined Degree (BA or BS and BFA), Master of Arts in Teaching in Art Education (MAT), and Master of Fine Arts (MFA).

Awards consist of funds and an exhibition. The funds awarded are to be spent on travel for development of individual artistic goals and study. Following travel, work of all scholarship recipients is presented in an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

The deadline for receipt of all application materials is Monday, January 28, 2008, 5:00 PM. The Alumni Traveling Scholars jury will convene in mid-March. Recipients will be notified in April and recognized at the SMFA Commencement in May.

The Traveling Scholars 2008 Exhibition will open at the Museum approximately a year and half after the awarding of the travel scholarship, in early spring 2010.
