TISCH LIBRARY
(corner of College Ave. and Professors Row; entrance is up the path from Professors Row across from Latin Way)

SMFA undergraduate degree students and graduate students may use Tisch Library services, provided they get a Tufts ID card (see section on Tufts ID Cards for more information) and go to Tisch to activate their Library account. If you have an activated Tufts library account, you will also have off-campus access to the online research databases ARTSTOR, JSTOR, and LexisNexis, giving students significant research options.

Contact Tufts Librarian Laurie Sabol (617-627-5167 or laurie.sabol@tufts.edu) with questions. The librarian at the SMFA library may offer some support if you have difficulties, but Laurie Sabol should be your first point of contact.

Click here for general information on Tisch Library, including borrowing policies and online collections.

AIDEKMAN ARTS CENTER
(15 South Campus Rd.)

Built in 1991, the Aidekman Arts Center houses the Cohen Auditorium, the music library, practice and lecture rooms, a 220 seat Bach Arena Theatre, two climate controlled exhibition galleries, and a sculpture court. It is also connected to the Jackson Gymnasium which contains practice rooms and a performance space for dance. There are also classrooms in Aidekman. The numbering system of these rooms is a little confusing, so try to leave time to find your room on the first day of class.

The Art Gallery in Aidekman organizes some interesting shows and will often have lectures and gallery talks. This space is also home to all SMFA Masters of Fine Arts Thesis shows. There is almost always a free shuttle bus from the SMFA to Aidekman for the opening of MFA Thesis shows.

Degree students, alumni, and Tufts staff and faculty are welcome to propose independently curated exhibitions at the Aidekman Art Gallery. Click here for information about the Aidekman Arts Center  and exhibition opportunities. Download a proposal form and make sure that you have read the Terms of Agreement Guidelines.

The Cohen Auditorium, the Alumni Lounge, the Bach Arena Theatre, and the Dance Lab often have performances, events, and visiting artist lectures. Look for posters about these happenings at Tufts and check www.tuftslife.com for calendars of the events.

Throughout the year the Jackson Gymnasium will host a series of no-credit workshops in aerobics, Pilates, yoga, breakdancing, and more. These ‘mini courses’ cost much less than similar courses at fitness clubs.

MAYER CAMPUS CENTER
(44 Professors Row)

The Mayer Campus Center serves as a main meeting point for students. It is accessible from both Professors Row and Talbot Ave. The Office of Student Activities is located here. The Campus Center also houses the Rez Café, the Hotong Café, the Commons Café (wide selection of prepared foods), meeting rooms for student organizations, a Bank of America ATM, several ping pong tables, and a pool table. There are dining tables and a microwave on the third floor. The Jumbo Express convenience store is connected to the Campus Center by a covered stairway and the University Bookstore is just across the stairs from the Campus Center. Click here f or more information about the Mayer Campus Center.

CRAFTS CENTER
(in the basement at Lewis Hall)

There is a student organization that receives funding to run the Crafts Center and maintain its facilities for papermaking, paper marbling, candlemaking, jewelrymaking, ceramics, screenprinting, stained glass, bookbinding, weaving, and woodworking. The Crafts Center is located in the basement of Lewis Hall, a residence hall located on the corner of Packard Ave. and Powderhouse Blvd. It is adjacent to both Hodgdon Hall and Tildon Hall. Click here for more information.

WOMEN'S CENTER
(the white house at 55 Talbot Ave.)

The Women’s Center hosts workshops, events, lectures, and groups concerning women’s studies and gender issues at Tufts.

DEWICK-MACPHIE DINING HALL
(at Dewick-MacPhie Hall, corner of Talbot and Latin Way)

Dewick serves buffet-style dining and is more expensive than the Campus Center. Click here for hours of operation.
