| (15
South Campus Rd.) Built
in 1991, the Aidekman
Arts
Center
houses the Cohen Auditorium, the music library, practice and lecture rooms, a
220 seat Bach Arena Theatre, two climate controlled exhibition galleries, and a
sculpture court. It is also connected to the Jackson Gymnasium which contains
practice rooms and a performance space for dance. There are also classrooms in
Aidekman. The numbering system of these rooms is a
little confusing, so try to leave time to find your room on the first day of
class. The
Art
Gallery
in Aidekman organizes some interesting shows and will often have lectures and
gallery talks. This space is also home to all SMFA Masters of Fine Arts Thesis
shows. There is almost always a free shuttle bus from the SMFA to Aidekman for
the opening of MFA Thesis shows. Degree
students, alumni, and Tufts staff and faculty are welcome to propose
independently curated exhibitions at the Aidekman
Art
Gallery.

Cohen Auditorium, the Alumni
Lounge, the Bach Arena Theatre, and the Dance Lab often have performances,
events, and visiting artist lectures. Look for posters about these happenings at
Tufts and check www.tuftslife.com for
calendars of the events. Throughout
the year the Jackson Gymnasium will host a series of no-credit workshops in
aerobics, Pilates, yoga, breakdancing, and more. These ‘mini courses’ cost much less
than similar courses at fitness clubs.
