MEDAL AWARD GALA HONORING JAMES TURRELL - MAY 22
Gala Co-Chairs Susan B. Kaplan and Catherine Creighton invite you to join us for an evening of fine art, dining, and conversation celebrating ground-breaking light and space artist James Turrell. Our gala event will be held on Monday, May 22 in the Shapiro Family Courtyard of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The Medal is awarded annually to individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact on the art world. The gala—which includes a seated dinner and silent auction—raises vital funds for scholarships and educational opportunities for SMFA at Tufts students. The Medal Award was first presented in 1996 on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In the time since, the school has paid tribute to some of the most noteworthy artists and influential art patrons of our time. Call for Student Work
During the Medal Award Gala, a juried collection of student works will be displayed in the MFA’s Sharf Visitor Center as part of a highly-anticipated silent auction. All selected works will be up for bid by hundreds of guests attending the Gala. Fifty percent of the proceeds of the winning bids will be paid directly to the artist and the remaining fifty percent benefits SMFA educational opportunities. Each student whose work is selected for the silent auction is invited to attend this very special celebration.
