SMFA Text and Image Arts faculty member Chantal Zakari will deliver a presentation, “Self-publishing an Artist’s Book: An Artist’s Journey in to the Book Publishing World,” at the Fourth International Conference on the Book at Emerson College on Friday, October 20. Zakari published webAffairs, a photo/text documentation of an adult webcam community in 2005. Her talk will cover publishing the book along with the tasks involved in self-distribution, getting the attention of the press, and selling through her Web site. Additionally, the presentation examines the position of the artist in relation to the publishing industry and the challenges of publishing an art book about internet nudity and sex in today's political climate.
