Robbie Conal Named 2006 Commencement Speaker
March 22, 2006

Robbie Conal, a guerilla poster artist noted for his satirical images of political figures, will deliver this year’s SMFA Commencement address on Sunday, May 21.

Conal, who grew up as a self-described “art brat” in New York City, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Francisco State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Stanford University. Posters of Conal’s drawings—whose subjects frequently address politics, power, and the abuses of both—have been displayed throughout the streets of major American cities. He currently lives in Los Angeles, teaches drawing at the University of Southern California, and has a monthly art column in LA Weekly called "ArtBurn."

SMFA Commencement ceremonies will be held from 4–5:30 pm at the Berklee Performance Center, 136 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston. For more information on Commencement, click here.
