SMFA Student Receives 2008 SGC Undergraduate Fellowship
February 4, 2008

The Southern Graphics Council (SGC) Awards Committee has awarded BFA candidate Rachel Gargiulo with the prestigious 2008 SGC Student Undergraduate Fellowship. Student Fellowships are given to individuals who exhibit outstanding promise in the fine art practice of printmaking. Gargiulo will be honored at the 37th Annual SGC Conference, “CommandPrint,” at Virginia Commonwealth University, March 26–29.

The fellowship provides funds for a project of Gargiulo's choice and an opportunity to present the resulting work at the 2009 conference. She will be pursuing a project in the medium of lithography that will catalog an archive of collaborative performances with people she met via the Internet.

The SGC is a nonprofit membership organization that advances the professional standing of artists who make original prints, drawings, books, and hand-made paper, and strives to increase public appreciation of these arts.
