| Biography |
| Ceramics and Foundations. M.F.A., University of Minnesota ('80); B.F.A., University of Wisconsin ('78). After a year of tech work at the Art Institute of Chicago, Barsanti took a faculty position at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in '81 and continues his position there. While having extensive skills in a multitude of materials from computers to stone, he has consistently worked with clay on architectural works, functional pottery, sculpture, installation, and site-specific works. His most recent works combine his interests in dowsing, geomancy, energy systems, and nature. Barsanti's newest project involves dowsing for underground water sources and marking them with hand-made ceramic trees. This site-specific installation is in Cazenovia, NY, at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park (June '01). Past projects include marking domes of water at Blithwald Mansion and Arboretum in connection with the National Sculpture Conference held in Rhode Island (June '96), and the construction of a seven-circuit labyrinth at the Vermont Council on the Arts Sculpture Fest ('94). He presently resides in Sharon, VT, at his home and studio. |
