Biography
Video M.F.A., University of California, Irvine ('98). Strom’s work takes the form of video installation and site projects. The work has been exhibited in a range of contexts, including museums, galleries, passenger trains, large-scale video projections onto industrial sites and mountain rock-faces, in empty retail stores and horse arenas. Strom’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contempoary Art, LA, the Museum of Modern Art, NYC, The High Museum, Atlanta, The Yerba Buena Center, San Francisco, The Walker Art Center, Mpls., The Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Archa, Theatro Divaldo, Prague, Republic of Czech, Temple Bar, Dublin, Ireland, Ars Electronica Festival, Linz Austria, Chapter Art Centre, Cardiff Wales among others. In 2006 she was a resident at the Headlands Center, in 2004 at the Bellagio Center (Rockefeller Foundation), in 2000 in the P.S.1 / MoMA National Studio Program. Recent awards include Artadia Foundation (2007), Saint Gaudens Fellow (2006), Arts Partners, funded by Wallace-Readers Digest funds and the Doris Duke Charitable Trust Foundation (2002), Rockefeller Foundation, Multi Arts Project Grant (2005, 2002, 2000, 1999), LEF Foundation (2007, 2004, 2002), Creative Capital, 1999 among others. Strom is represented by the Judi Rotenberg Gallery in Boston and the Alexander Gray gallery in NYC.
