Apply to the MFA Program

The MFA Program integrates
practical and critical skills across diverse media and disciplines. When you
graduate, you’ll be prepared for a career as a working artist—or a teacher on
the college level. MFA students are enrolled at both the Museum School
and Tufts
University, and graduate
with an MFA degree from Tufts.
Here’s how to apply:
- Check our deadlines. The deadline for fall admission is January 15. Applications postmarked after January 15 will not be considered for admission. All materials must be sent to the Museum School Admissions Office.
- Download, print and read carefully the SMFA Application and Admission Information - submit completed summary of undergraduate credits to the Museum School, and the $65 application fee made payable to the Museum School. You can also request a paper application. Submit to the Admissions Office at the Museum School. Online applications are not accepted.
- Arrange for your official college transcript(s) to be sent
to the Admissions Office at the Museum School.*
- Submit a portfolio for review to the Admissions Office at the Museum School.
- Submit three letters of recommendation to the Admissions Office at the Museum School.*
- Submit a résumé and a statement of purpose to the Admissions Office at the Museum School.
- Applicants to the MFA Program submit financial aid forms to both Tufts University and the Museum School.*
