To our SMFA community,
Your well-being is on our mind today following the tragic events at the Boston Marathon, Monday, April 15. People react in different ways to trauma and it is normal to experience anxiety, worry or preoccupation with what happened, even if you were not directly affected. In the immediate aftermath, it is helpful to know that numerous resources and individuals, including the SMFA Counseling Center, are available to assist you and those in need. If you would like to talk to a counselor at SMFA, you can do so by stopping by the office in the lower level or calling (617) 566-2200 for an appointment. The Center is available to students and staff alike.
It may also be helpful to know that you can do several things right now to feel better and manage any stress:
1) talk to a trusted friend, family member, or professor;
2) limit media viewing;
3) take care of yourself physically, including limiting the excessive use of substances;
4) set reasonable priorities and focus on your strengths.
