Faculty mentors are assigned to new students for the first year of their program.
Mentors include full-time, part-time, associate and in some cases visiting faculty. The purpose of mentoring is to provide a format for students to receive feedback on their artwork, advice on faculty to work with and studio courses to take, and discussion of professional plans for life as an artist. It is meant to complement the path-of-study advising that takes place through the Advising Team in Academic Affairs. Students are invited to show work to their mentor during orientation and again during the all-school days in November and March. After the first year, students may choose a new faculty mentor. Usually, this will be a faculty member the student has worked with directly in the classroom.
