Jeff Daniel Silva is a filmmaker and artist based in Somerville, Massachusetts. Jeff studied Cinema & Photography at Ithaca College and received an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier. His films and moving-image installations have been exhibited at festivals, galleries and in museums in the United States, South America, Canada, Europe and Australia; including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA NY), the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (Boston, MA), the Betty Rymer Gallery (Chicago, Il), the Valdivia International Film Festival (Chile), the DokumentArt Film Festival (Germany), and DocHouse Brussels (Belgium), ZKM(Germany), CCCB (Barcelona), Harvard Film archive (Cambridge), and the Gottingen Ethnographic Film Festival (Germany). Prior to teaching at SMFA, Jeff was an instructor of sensory ethnography at Harvard University from 20062009. Jeff is also the co-founder and curator of the award winning Balagan Experimental Film Series, programming an eclectic mix of documentary and experimental film to the New England community since 2000 (

His most recently completed work, "Balkan Rhapsodies," had its US premiere at the Museum of Modern Art's prestigious Documentary Fortnight program and has gained recognition throughout festival in Europe and Latin America. Jeff is currently editing a new feature documentary entitled "Ivan and Ivana in Serburbia."
