Nathan Fash (architectural design) received a BA and BFA, magna cum laude with highest thesis honors, from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (2004). Fash then earned a Master of Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he was awarded the American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Medal as the top-ranked architecture graduate (2010). Before attending architecture school, he worked as a carpenter for Thayer Street Associates in western Massachusetts; since then he has been a designer for numerous architectural firms in Boston, among them Kennedy and Violich Architecture, William Rawn Associates, Single Speed Design, Peter Rose + Partners, and Machado & Silvetti Associates. Fluent in both Italian and Spanish, he has also worked with the Italian firm Studio Rizzi, designing architecture that engages cultural heritage in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central America. Outside of architecture, Fash is a co-founder and director of New Root, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to environmental conservation and education in Honduras. He has won several grants including the Pratt Grant from the Museum School and the Edward Larrabee Barnes Fellowship from Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. Before coming to the Museum School, Fash taught at the Boston Architectural College and at Harvard University.
