Robert Baart is a painter whose abstract work is informed by nature and the landscape. He has been on the painting faculty at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for thirty-five years and retired from teaching in 2009. He is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston ('69) and SMFA Traveling Scholarship recipient ('70). He was a painting finalist, Massachusetts Artist Fellowship Program ('76, '87). Recent exhibitions include a show in January 2009 of work completed on sabbatical in 2007–2008 at the Grossman Gallery, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; other exhibits include Fenway Studio's Artist's at Vose Gallery, Boston, MA; Soprafina Gallery, Boston, MA; St. Botolph Club, Boston, MA; The Henry L. Stimson Center, Washington, DC; Newton Free Library, Newton, MA; Bromfield Gallery, Boston, MA.

His work is in the collection of the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham; MA, the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA., as well as numerous private and corporate collections here and abroad.
