Molly Segal's figurative paintings explore the ambiguities and paradoxes of intimacy, desire, fear and recklessness in the lives of young women. She is especially interested in the psychological and physical tensions in the relationships of young women. Her work attempts to reflect these youthful tensions in there complexity; at once vulnerable, bold, and fearless in the face of the unknown. Originally from Oakland, CA, Molly received her BFA from the California College of the Arts in 2006 and her MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 2013. At the Museum School, she received the Boit Award in 2012 and co-curated the Students Curate Students show, "Liking Is For Cowards. Go For What Hurts." at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She has shown at Laconia Gallery, the Dystillery and Howard Arts Project in Boston and had a solo show at FM Gallery in Oakland, CA, in 2013. Her work has been featured in Lapham's Quarterly and Beautiful Decay.
