Arhia Kohlmoos (Montague Fund) traveled to Amsterdam in August of 2010, where she spent eight days studying Dutch art and culture.
The purpose of this trip was to experience, on a first-hand basis, the environment (geographical, cultural, meteorological) that so profoundly influenced generations of artists who lived in the countries that now constitute the Netherlands. A generous travel grant from SMFA allowed Arhia to explore dozens of museums and important historical sites in Amsterdam. These experiences will help her to better understand the artists who inform her work, and as a result, she will be able to further develop her own artistic practice.
