Since 1981, the YoungArts program has helped to support and nurture the careers of thousands of young artists by awarding over $500,000 annually in scholarships. Congratulations to former SMFA Pre-College student
Amanda Kuhn, who is a 2012 finalist winner. Kuhn is currently a senior at Design & Architecture Senior High in Miami.
The 597 YoungArts 2012 winners were chosen through a blind adjudication process, from more than 5,000 applicants, representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as all U.S. territories. YoungArts winners were selected in nine disciplines in the visual, literary and performing arts: 152 Finalists; 174 Honorable Mentions; and 271 Merit Award Winners. In addition to receiving monetary awards, all YoungArts Winners join the ranks of our 16,000 YoungArts alumni.
The mission of YoungArts, a program of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, is to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development, and to raise the appreciation for, and support of, the arts in American Society.
