
SMFA's annual student photography exhibition, "Persistence of Vision: Photography at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts," is on view March 15April 6 in the Atrium, Project Space and Underground galleries.
SMFA's photography department, currently chaired by Bonnie Donohue, has a long history of producing feisty, independent, self-determined photographers who go on to be highly influential in the larger art world. "Persistence of Vision" features over 100 works by 60 of SMFA's talented students who are following the footsteps of SMFA photographers before them. The show also pays tribute to these influential alumni from the 1970s to the 2000s including: Nan Goldin, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, David Armstrong, Mark Morrisroe, Cindy Klein, Shellburne Thurber, Ann Rowland and Mike and Doug Starn, Eileen Quinlan, Laurel Nakadate, Neeta Madahar, Amy Montali, Youngsuk Suh, Matthew Gamber, Lalla Assia Essaydi, Dawit L. Petros, Darren Miller and Sean Johnson.
