Josephine Halvorson
"Inside Halvorson's small rectangles, we feel the ground beginning to shift as the possibility of another way of being in the world subtly weaves itself into our consciousness---sometimes long after the viewing experience itself." -Litia Perta, Brooklyn Rail.

This is the perfect description of Halvorson's small, intimate and surprising powerful paintings that manage to reference Mirandi and Tuymans and still remain utterly their own. Halvorson graduated from Columbia University in 2007 and has exhibited work internationally, including at Sikkema Jenkins in New York and La Fondation des Etats-Unis in Paris, France. This fall her work can bee seen in a group show at Deitch Projects and a solo exhibition at Monya Rowe Gallery.
