This solo exhibition will present Joe Joe Orangias's MFA thesis project, "Lucky Strike." The project was initiated around thoughts of how architecture/design choreograph the body and different social groups. Considering a bowling alley as a specific case of this structural influence, Orangias salvaged discarded materials from the former Lucky Strike candlepin bowling alley in Dorchester, MA. He has repurposed these objects and materials into an installation with a variety of interactive components. In referencing a strong history and simultaneously proposing a new future, the experience emphasizes alternative frameworks of orientation and proximity.
