
Interracial desire, same-sex love, and sexual bigotry are recurrent themes in
Nayland Blake's work. His art takes the form of drawing, sculpture, performance, and video. Blake was born in New York in 1960. He has participated in the 1991 Whitney Biennial and the 1993 Venice Biennale. Additionally, the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College presented a survey of his performance-based works in 2003. Blake chairs the International Photography Center-Bard MFA program. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
