Joe Joe Orangias' "Lucky Strike" was inspired by how architecture and design choreograph the body and different social groups. Orangias salvaged discarded materials from the former Lucky Strike candlepin bowling alley in Dorchester, MA, and repurposed the objects and materials into an installation with a variety of interactive components, creating an experience emphasizing alternative frameworks of orientation and proximity.
The joint Master of Fine Arts degree program of SMFA and Tufts University culminates with a final thesis exhibition. Students create an in-depth presentation of their artistic process and their body of work developed during the two-year program. SMFA/Tufts thesis exhibitions will take place throughout the spring and summer at galleries around Boston. Admission to exhibitions and related events is free and open to the public. Visit
