Shifts in blind spots create notions about what was and what is present. As a painter, the thought process behind what to include in a work doesn't have to be recognizable or necessarily site-specific. These decisions can come from multiple sources: a discarded note spotted while walking down the street; a memory from before one can remember; a conversation overriding another or a flash of light passing by. It is the process itself that brings these things together; our perceptions of them become obscure and they become less of a reality and more intertwined with forms of abstraction.

Caroline Board received her BFA Painting and Drawing concentration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 2010. She is currently in the final year of her MFA at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in affiliation with Tufts University.
