"Students Curate Students: Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts" March 9–August 18, 2013 Bookmark and Share

Each year SMFA students have the unique opportunity to exhibit at the Museum through the Students Curate Students program. Selected from a range of curatorial proposals, this year's exhibition features five students whose work explores the threats to meaningful human connections in today's social media-focused world.

On view March 9–August 18, 2013 in the MFA's Courtyard Gallery, "Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts" is inspired by a Jonathan Franzen essay of the same name, which explores how "the world of techno-consumerism" and social media is creating a false reality which threatens meaningful, personal connections. Embracing the imperfect—but authentic—real world, these five artists bring to life human emotions, relationships and experiences through paintings, video, mixed media and drawings.

Participating artists: Bug Davidson, Jenna DeLuca, Coe Lapossy, Tim McCool, Molly Segal. Co-curated by Lapossy and Segal.
