
In recognition of their outstanding work, the 2013 Dana Pond Awards in Painting honored Andrea Barone, a Post-Baccalaureate student, for
Let It Shine; Cody Justus, an MFA student, for
Sign; and Jason Wallace, an MFA student, for
Happiness. Honorable mentions went to Miro Hoffman, a BFA student, for
I 10; Neerja Kothari, an MFA student, for
Bound; and Juan Travieso, an MFA student, for
Friend Request the Dropout. Their work will be exhibited in this year's "Graduating Students and Award Recipients Exhibition" on view April 16May 18, 2013.
The Dana Pond Competition is an annual painting competition held in early spring which honors three students who have done exemplary work during the preceding school year. All full-time enrolled Museum School students are eligible, and the three award recipients are selected by an outside jury. This year's jury included Kathleen Bitetti, artist, public policy expert and curator/arts administrator; Sheila Gallagher, SMFA alumna, artist and Assistant Professor at Boston College; and Anna Katsnelson, Assistant Professor at Princeton University.
