B Milder "SMFA Graduate Thesis Film & Video Exhibition"
Remis Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave, Boston
May 16, 7 pm + May 17, 2013, 6 pm
Reception: May 17, 5–8 pm (at SMFA)

B Milder's thesis video Middlesex Lounge comes from a go-go performance she did at a club in Cambridge. It creates an experience for the audience which exists in tandem with the club-goers' experience of witnessing the original performance. When the image of the go-go dancers is removed from the club and replaced in the cinema, a slow boredom and subtle acceptance of subversive material creeps over the viewer. By the end of this work, the audience is rocking in their seats to the infectious drone of the deep house beat.

B Milder makes performances, videos and sculptures about nightlife and popular culture. She exploits her access to nightclubs and venues to produce live art for an audience that is not always expecting it. B is from Boston and received her BA from Hampshire College in Western Massachusetts.

Milder will also exhibit thesis work at SMFA, June 13–28, 2013.
