MFA Thesis Show "A Place of One's Own"
Fourth Wall Project, 132 Brookline Ave, Boston
May 1630, 2013
Reception: May 17, 710 pm
"A Place of One's Own" is an exploration of what a house is what it represents, what it means to have a place of one's own and the urge to build it. These structures are potential sites of transformation, growth, rebirth. They allow for an escape from the complexities of everyday life and provide a site where one is free to entertain the notion of secretly leaving the old life behind to begin new. The house represents a point of intersection between the worlds of man and nature, and occupies a site on the frontier between existence and imagination where utopian notions and reality collide. The act of building is an attempt to synthesize these.
