"Melody and Witness," an art event curated and directed by Ahmed Abdalla (MFA '97), is on view at Gasp Arts from November 12– December 17, 2009.
Abdalla describes this art event as a "the territory that exists between the world of theater and fine arts" combining elements from both arenas including sculpture, painting, drawing lighting, sound and video projection. Faculty member Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, founder of Gasp Arts says, "This event compels us to confront our positions as bare witnesses to political, ideological and economical transactions that define our time. Abdalla leaves us to individually or collectively question these occurrences through a delicately structured aesthetic tableau."
