Jenna DeLuca MFA Thesis Show "The Line Between"
Barbara and Steven Grossman Gallery, SMFA
June 13–June 29, 2013
Reception: Thursday, June 13, 6–8 pm; Artist talks: Thursday, June 13, 5:30 pm

Jenna DeLuca's paintings investigate the human potential for good and evil, through manipulating the visual codes of criminality and legality in American society. Obscuring and embellishing the images of those with "power," who alternately inflict terror or order on society. Decodifying them in an effort to understand how society is culturally conditioned by their presence. And what happens when we cannot discern between the benevolence and malevolence of a person.

DeLuca received her BFA from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2006 and pursued post-baccalaureate studies at the Pont-Aven School of Contemporary art in Bretange, France in 2007. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Huret Spector Gallery at Emerson College, Danforth Musuem of Art in Framingham and CIAC (Centre International d'art Contemprain) in France, among others.
