Lavalette was nominated for the Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers 2010. He exhibited in "Ladies and Gentlemen" at the Photo Gallery, Carpenter Center at Harvard University (Cambridge), November 2–29, 2009. Upcoming exhibitions include: "Tomorrow's Photographers Today" at the Muse de l'Elyse (Lausanne, Switzerland) in 2010 and "American Now: Portrait of a Place Daniel Cheek, Ben Huff, Shane Lavalette, Laura McPhee, Alec Soth and Zoe Strauss" at Montserrat Gallery (Beverly, MA), February 5–April 10, 2010.
