"Summer 2010" on view at the William Morris Hunt Memorial Library Bookmark and Share

On view through October 1, 2010, "Summer 2010" is the tenth exhibition in collaboration between the SMFA and the William Morris Hunt Memorial Library, showcasing works created by SMFA students. The exhibition is organized by Jennifer Nichols, a second year MFA candidate. Join us for an opening reception July 8, 5–6:30 pm.

"Summer 2010" features recent work by current SMFA undergraduate and graduate students, ranging from photography, painting, drawing and sculpture, engaging different approaches to contemporary practice from representational to abstract to conceptual work. In 1947, as Annie Albers writes on materials and time: "the more we avoid standing in the way of the material and in the way of tools and machines, the better chance there is that our work will not be dated, will not bear the stamp of too limited a period of time and be old fashioned someday instead of antique...and it [materials] will outlast fashions only if it embodies lasting, together with transitory, qualities." (Josef + Anni Albers, Merrill: 2010).

Exhibiting Artists: Laura Ahking, Sofya Belinskaya, Erik Benjamins, John Gonzalez, Roxene Wu Hanson, Liz Newman, Jennifer Nichols, Michael Sims, Celeste Marie Welch, Danielle LaFountaine, Heather LaForce, Chris Zacher and Chris Ford.
