The 2011 "Senior Thesis Show," on view May 20May 31, 2011, brings together 46 individual artists from across the nation and the world that are working and creating within the SMFA community. Representing a variety of media such as installation, film, painting, photography, drawing, sculpture and more, the show will offer something for everyone.
Building on the School's studio curriculum, the Senior Thesis program offers final-year students independent studio time to hone their body of work. Mentored by faculty members Michael Barsanti, Julie Graham, David Kelley and Chantal Zakari, students take an active role in the creation of the exhibition from installing and painting walls to curating and developing promotional materials. This hands-on approach allows them to learn professional skills relevant to an artist's career while at the same time pushing the boundaries of a typical gallery experience.
