Work is made to be viewed and experienced—and there are
plenty of places for SMFA students to show their work.
Some
highlights:
The Anderson
Auditorium is 2,100 square feet
and is used for both lectures and exhibitions.
The Weems Center, or atrium, is the heart of the School and a
great place to show sizable work: the 850-square foot exhibition space
accommodates pieces up to three stories tall. Also part of the Weems Center is the Project Space, which
accommodates exhibitions organized by students.
The BAG Gallery, adjacent to the Weems Center, holds frequently rotating
exhibitions that feature student work and are often curated by students.
The Grossman
Gallery is a
state-of-the-art exhibition space that hosts exhibitions of work by artists of
international stature as well as work by current students and alumni. The Courtyard Gallery at the Museum of Fine Arts frequently exhibits student work
focusing on specific themes, media, or other forms of visual investigation.
The Foster Gallery at the Museum of Fine Arts is the site of the Traveling
Scholars Exhibition—an annual, juried show of work by competing alumni and
participants in the Fifth Year Certificate program.
Tufts
University Art Gallery is located on the
Tufts campus. This 4,000-square-foot space hosts MFA thesis
exhibitions.
