The SMFA welcomes first-time students to our bachelor’s
degree and Diploma programs. In your application, we’re looking for a strong portfolio, as
well as other indicators that you’re a good match for the School. These include
your previous schooling and the quality and content of the essays that are part
of your application.
Here’s how to
apply:
- Check our
deadlines. If you submit
your application after the priority deadline for your program, your application
will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that the five-year
Combined-Degree Program does not offer rolling admissions.
- Submit the
Application for Admission with the $65
application fee and one essay (or a personal statement). You can download the application (pdf) or request a paper application.
- Arrange for
your official high school transcript or General
Equivalency Diploma (GED) to be sent to the Admissions Office.
- Submit a
portfolio for review.
- Have your SAT, ACT, or AP
scores
sent directly to the Admissions Office 2.4 from the College Board. Our
SAT code is 3794; our ACT code is 3794.
- Submit two
letters of recommendation.
- Submit a
statement of purpose describing
why you want to become an art teacher (BFA in Art Education
only).
- Combined-Degree
