Two-Day WORKSHOPs
Basic Photoshop for Artists Reese Inman Sundays 1−4 pm 2 days (September 14 and 21) CMP 1040-N1 Non-credit / Tuition: $100 Sundays 1−4 pm 2 days (September 28 and October 5) CMP
1040-N2 Non-credit / Tuition: $100 Do you feel frustrated or unsure every time you send out digital images or submit them online as part of a grant application? If you'd like to master the art and science of making your digital images look fabulous, then this workshop is for you. You'll see how easy e-mail and online submissions can be. By the end of the workshop you will be able to size, crop, color-correct, and tweak your digital images to professional quality for any purpose—Web, print, or e-mail—and will be well prepared for your next round of digital image submissions. Please note: You should have a basic comfort level with general computer use and bring a CD containing high-resolution images of your artwork to the workshop.

Sourcing the Imagination: Drawing Beyond Representation Kathy Halamka
Saturdays 9:00 am−4:15 pm 7 weeks (September 13−October 25) DRW 2100-C1 2 credits / Tuition: $895 DRW 2100-N1 Non-credit / Tuition $685
You will be challenged to work in large scale on imaginary derived from personal, imaginative sources. A series of exercises designed to promote the the discovery of this imagery will enable you to produce more personal work. For inspiration, you will draw upon sources such as poetic imagery, dreams, photographs, symbolic objects, metamorphic surrealist games, and collage. References to artists such as Marc Chagall, Salvador Dali, Frida Khalo, Hieronymus Bosch, and Odd Nerdrum we be a crucial part of this course. This course is designed for students who have had some previous drawing experience and wich to push themselves beyond pure depiction from life. 12-WEEK WORKSHOP
The Body in Question: Drawing and Painting Patrick Carter Saturdays 1–4 pm 12 weeks (September 13–December 6) DRW 4094-N1 Non-credit / Tuition: $530 The human body has been an infinite source of inspiration and a subject that has been expressed in innumerable styles and media. In this workshop, we will attempt to gain new insight into the human form by exploring traditional, expressive, and experimental approaches to drawing and painting the body. The workshop will be built around individual concerns, issues, and personal sensibilities with the nude model as a foundation and point of departure. Throughout the workshop we will refer to a varied group of artists such as Francis Bacon, William Beckman, Richard Diebenkorn, Lucian Freud, Alberto Giacometti, Henri Matisse, Nathan Oliveira, and other contemporary artists who have found new inspiration in this timeless subject. Bring materials of your choice (charcoal, water-based paint, oils, etc.) and be prepared to work at the first meeting.
