Recommended Course of Study
 

Year One

Fall            6 periods of studio art including Graduate Cap Seminar, group critique, and colloquium
1 academic course

Spring        6 periods of studio art including Graduate Elective Seminar, group critique, and colloquium
1 academic course

First-year students are reviewed for advancement to year two.

Year Two

Fall            6 periods of studio art including Graduate Elective Seminar, group critique, and colloquium        
1 academic course

Spring        6 periods of studio art including Graduate Elective Seminar, group critique, and colloquium        
1 academic course

Second-year students are reviewed for advancement to Final Exhibition.

Year Three     

Fall            audit colloquium

Spring        audit colloquium

Final MFA  Exhibition*

The MFA Exhibition includes a written statement of purpose. A final Review Board by studio faculty and the student’s academic advisor from Tufts review the exhibition and award credit. Any remaining academic courses may be taken in year three.

                  *Once students complete or nearly complete all studio art and academic requirements, the Final MFA Exhibition can take place. The final exhibition at Tufts University is completed in the spring of the second year of study unless the student petitions to continue to a third year. There is currently no tuition fee for the third year.
