Who Studies at the SMFA?

Museum School students have diverse backgrounds and arrive at SMFA with different levels of artistic development. They’re independent spirits who look at the world in individual ways. But they all share a passion for the creative process and the exploration of personal vision.

At the Museum School, you’ll find a dynamic environment buzzing with activity. In and out of the studio, students and faculty are alive with the excitement of creating art.

And when it’s time for a break from the art-making process, you’ll find great options. Hang out with friends in the atrium, the heart of the School, where you can get a cup of gourmet coffee while viewing the latest student exhibition. Join a club, participate in a drawing marathon, catch a show at one of Boston’s many cultural institutions, or take a day trip to New York City with the School.

You might decide to help organize the Animation Festival—or take a tai chi class. You might head downtown on New Year’s Eve for First Night celebrations or plan an event for World AIDS Day. At the SMFA, the possibilities are limited only to the scope of your imagination.
