
Students can organize exhibitions in the Project Space, BAG Gallery, the Weems Center, and in non-exhibition spaces throughout the school. Two week
time slots are given for exhibitions in all spaces. Click here to download the Artwork in Common Spaces Approval Form.
The Project Space, Weems Center, and BAG Gallery are community exhibition spaces. Maintenance of the area is
the responsibility of the reserving parties. Reservations for the Project Space, Weems Center, and BAG Gallery take place in
April for the following academic year. Faculty and graduate students are
given first priority in the reservation process; open slots will be made
available to all other students on a case by case basis at the beginning of the
fall semester each year.
Any major changes to the gallery (dark paint, large holes, pedestal
arrangements) must first be approved by the Exhibitions Office, then
repaired/restored/removed at the time of your de-installation. Minor
improvements (filling nail holes, fresh paint) are to be done by the party
installing.
You are given one day before your opening for installation, and one day after
your closing for de-installation.
The Exhibitions Department will provide the following
services/materials: Installation Signage Publicity Additional Support Installation • Paint, rollers, brushes • Spackle, putty
knives • Hanging hardware, hammers, drills,
screwdrivers • Pedestals, shelves
These items may not always be available. Equipment is lent on a first come,
first served basis.
Please note that
all aspects of installation are the organizer’s responsibility. The
Exhibitions Department is not responsible for the actual installation of the

and typeface of vinyl. • Your exhibition title must be provided to Joanna Soltan 2 weeks prior to your installation date. • Vinyl title must be
installed by your installation team Publicity The Exhibitions Department will announce your exhibition in
Chronos, and send out an all SMFA staff, student, and faculty e-mail.
Provide Joanna Soltan with the final title, dates, and a two sentence
description of the
exhibition, two weeks prior to the exhibition
opening. Additional Support The Exhibitions department is available to answer
questions and will aid in solving issues whenever possible.
