Théberge knows how difficult it is to become an artist.
After
all, she’s done it herself. A 1988 BFA/BA graduate of the Museum
School,
Théberge recently earned her MFA from California
College
of the Arts and works as an artist and art instructor.
“Choosing
a career as an artist is not a choice that tends to be supported by family or
society in general,” Théberge says. “I really, really understand what an
undertaking this is.”
Last
fall, Théberge decided it was time to support that undertaking, so she sent a
$15 contribution to the SMFA Fund. Combined with hundreds of other alumni
gifts of all sizes, Théberge’s donation helps support the School’s vitally
important programs.
“I want to help other people
become artists,” says Théberge. “My little $15 check is a way of telling someone
just starting out, ‘This is important. I believe in you and what this School has
to offer and I want to support you in that.’”
